My new approach to dates is less help save me and more come on board the loveboat, honey

My new approach to dates is less ‘help save me’ and more ‘come on board the loveboat, honey’ Despite having a blast the past few weeks, Stacey Duguid wonders if what she assumed she wanted might not be what she actually needs 5 June 2021 • 6:00am You can go for lunch alone, see an exhibition alone, dance naked in your kitchen alone Credit: Imogen Davies When friends ask how I’m feeling, I tell them I’m lost at sea. For months I assumed this “lost” feeling was to do with being single in midlife. But it’s not. Feeling lost has nothing to do with being single – it’s to do with unhappiness more broadly. As 3am thoughts tumble through my mind like a tornado torturing me away from sleep, I often wonder if I’ll ever be happy again.

Around the House: How to keep a wandering washer off the dance floor

Dear Ken: I have a dancing washer. It’s a front-loading, stackable unit that literally moves several inches across the floor while it’s spinning. How can we keep it in its place? Matt Answer: These low-water-using washers spin at hundreds of RPM’s much faster than their traditional top-loading cousins. I hear complaints not only of waltzing around the house, but also of excessive noise when they are installed on the second floor. You can find anti- vibration and anti-walking rubber foot pads for your washing machine online for about $20 a set. But try this: If you have a pedestal under the washer and dryer with integral drawers, add weight inside each one maybe concrete blocks, a few bricks or even a stack of ceramic tiles. The added ballast in that pedestal quiets everything down guarantee it.

Titled Drop by Drop, Life Falls from the Sky: Water, Islam and Art, the show will include 120 artworks and objects that provide insights into the importance of water in Islam, not only for ablutions, but also its symbolic significance as written in the Quran. Opening on Wednesday, June 9, it is a collaboration between Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA), which runs Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilisation, and the Fondazione Torino Musei in Turin, Italy. The exhibition at Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilisation tells the story of water, art and Islam, through different artworks realised in several materials. Courtesy Sharjah Museums Authority
